The present work is preliminary for a drawing of the same subject and composition in the Kupferstichkabinett, Berlin.¹ Sumowski compares the Strauss drawing in manner to a sheet depicting Hagar in the Desert,² prev🐟iously in the Valentiner collection, and dates both works to🌟 the mid-1650s.
