You Only Live Twice (1967), style 🍌A poster (volcano), British

Frank McCarthy (1924-2002)

Unframed: 31 1/4 x 41 in. (79.3 x 104.2 cm)

The advertising department for the film's release really went to town on their campaign. They created three different posters, featuring Sean Connery in the bathtub (surrounded by girls), Connery wit🃏h the famous Little Nelly flying machine, and Connery inside the volcano.

British film posters were distributed folded until 1977 when they sta𓆏rted to send them out rolled. However in the 1960s, for some reason, United Artists did distri🔜bute some of the Bond posters rolled. The vast majority of the Bond posters were folded. This poster is one of the rarer unfolded examples.

This was the fifth James Bond film produced by Eon Productions. It was directed by Lewis Gilbert, in the first of three Bond films that he would direct for Eon Productions. The screenplay for the film was written by R💝oald Dahl, and is vaguely based on Ian Fleming's 1964 novel. During filming it was announced that Sean Connery w෴ould retire from playing Bond, although he did make a come back in Diamonds are Forever in 1971 and Never Say Never Again in 1983.
