12 volumes, 8vo (256 x 161mm.), 864 fine hand-coloured lithographed plates, contemporary maroon half morocco by C.W. Vogt, marbled edges, marbled endpapers, plate 145 (volume 3) becoming detached, scattered spotting,spines of some volume slightly sunned, extremities slightly rubbed
The only m🅠ajor Pruss▨ian flora. These volumes are uniformly bound in the Jewel Romantique style by C.W. Vogt, binder to the court of Prussia.
Albert Gottfried Dietrich (1795-1856) was teacher at the Gärtner-Lehranstalt in Schöneberg near Berlin, and worked as curator at the Königlicher Botanischer Garten from 1835. The plates were drawn by the author; the text is ꦬin German. "For this work, which is mostly founded on his own collecting activity, he aimed at an inventory as comprehensive as possible of the most frequent native plants growing in the Prussian territories" (Staatsbibliothek Preussischer Kulturbesitz, 100 Botanical Jewels, No. 89).
