circa mid-20th century
Freꦍnch thonet style (ಞ76 in; 1,930 mm). Vintage patina.
A charming prop from one of Paul Newman's best-loved films.
Following the success of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), The Sting re🎃united its director, George Roy Hill, with its two stars, Newman and Robert Redford. Screenwriter David S. Ward, who was relatively unknown at that point, was inspired Fred and Charley Gondorff, brothers and real-life conmen.
This hat rack was located in Pau🍷l Newman's New York City office.
