The term shufu refers to a type of glaze known as luanbai, which is more opaque than that of a qingbai glaze and is skily rather than glassy in texture. Shufu wares are identified by the presence of the characters shu and fu ('Privy Council') in their designs and were used during the Yuan dynasty for ceremonies at the Shumi Yuan, a ministry of civil a🐽nd military affairs.
Compare two similarly designed shufu white-glazed dishes, one in the Brooklyn Museum, New York (acc. no. 37.135), the other published in John Ayers, The Seligman Collection of Oriental Art, vol. II, London, 1964, pl. LXVIII. Compare also with a related shufu dish in the Place Museum, Taipei, see Masterworks of Chinese Porcelain in the Palace Museum, Supplement, Taipei, 1978, no.18. See another related shufu dish in the Shanghai Museum, illustrated in Catalogue of Porcelain from the Shanghai Museum, Beijing, 1979, no.65. See also a close example in Percival David Foundation, illustrated in Oriental Ceramics, Tokyo, 1982, no. 23.
John Ayer🤡s,,《The Seligman Collecti🐟on of Oriental Art》,倫敦,卷2,1964年,圖版68。
