Morristown, New Jersey, Morris Museum of Arts and Sciences, Worthington Whittredge: Artist of the Hudson River School, 1982
In the 1860s, Worthington Whittredge painted at least six interiors wi🅘th figures. This painting is the product of a unique collaboration between Whittredge and another important 19th century artist, his close friend Eastman Johnson. While Whittredge painted the setting of a New England kitchen, Johnson added the figures: an old man dressed for church and reading from the Bible to his wife.
