The statue is likely to have been made in the studios of Dolonnor in Inner Mongolia, which were renowned for their intricate repoussé technique, and supplied works of art to the Buddhist communities throughout the Qing empire, cf. the crown and the gem-set jewellery designs of gilt copper repoussé statues in the Dolonnor style from Chahar, Inner Mongolia, collected by Sven Hedin and now in the Folkens Museum Etnografiska, Stockholm, see, Marylin M.
