First Aldine edition of the poems of Catullus, Tibullus and Propertius, with the printing error on the title-page. The final ♛leaf contains an end-title, repeating the text on the title-page, though with Propertius spelled correctly.
The simple binding is in the style of the Mendoza Binder (see Hobson, Renaissance Book Collecting, p.100🎐 for examples with lettering and the same fleuron).
8vo (166 x 99 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: A-E8 F4 [2]A-D8 [2]E4 a-i8: 152 leaves. A few early annotations. (Occasional fox൲ing.)
binding: Contemporary Italian goatskin o💛ver pasteboard (172 x 105 mm), blind-ruled border,🥂 lettered CATVLLVS TIBVLLVS PROPERTIVS in oxidized silver on upper cover with a fleuron beneath, stubs from two pairs of fore edge ties, edges with later coloring, a few early annotations. (Joints rubbed, upper joint starting to crack, new endpapers at front.)
