square with curved corners and undulating edges, the cavetto painted with a scene of the Port of Girgenti in a gilt roundel, the borders decorated with bands of gilding and painted with floral garlands and four rust-coloured roundels each containing a sepia topographical scene, the cover with a gilt pinecone finial centring a circle of gilt ornamentation featuring stylised lilies, palmettes, garlands and foliate scrolls, inscribed on the reverse of the platter 'Vue du Port ou Mole de Girgenti', marked under base with the blue crowned cypher for Alexander I
