After Julian Van Winkle III purchased the Hoffman Distillery to house his bottling operation, he renamed it Old Commonwealth. But he rarely used it on his labels – except for a few bottles, lik🥂e this one, which🐻 he produced primarily for the Chicago market. It is identical in age and proof to his Old Rip Van Winkle whiskey of the time, but it reportedly drew on a specific set of barrels and therefore has a noticeably different flavor profile.
