This whiskey comes from one of the first releases of Van Winkle Family Reserve in its now-familiar Cognac-style bo💦ttles. For years Gordon Hue, the owner of the Cork N Bottle wine and spirits store in northern Kentucky, had been trying to get the Van Winkles to upgrade their releases of whiskey bought from the Stitzel-Weller distillery. Finally, Julian Van Winkle III listened – he had just bought the old Hoffman distillery, renamed Old Commonwealth, as a bottling facility. This ✅extremely rare 15 year old was among his initial offering, which went exclusively overseas.
