The seꩲction of a palm frond d❀isplaying numerous leaflets preserved together with three complete skeletons of extinct freshwater fish species, all beautifully prepared and intact on a irregular shaped slab.

This scene of three ancient fish weaving their way among the blades of a fossil palm frond epitomizes the aesthetic value of fossils and the artistic beauty of nature. The Wyoming section of the Green River Formation is most famous for its remarkable diversity of preserved fauna, mostly fish, but it is also notable for its flora, in particular soft material — such as the palm frond seen here — that in most other parts of the world decomposed before having a chance to fossilize. Even so, palms are exceptionally scarce even within the Green River Formation, as their thin leaves usually disintegrated. Prized among collectors, palms represent some of the largest fossilized leaves ever found. Adding to the appeal and complexity of the present offering, three fossil fish, including two Knightia and the much more uncommon Phareodus, are exquisitely preserved here in matrix.
