The map shows icebergs, the border of the pack ice and the date at which each point on the route was reached by the ship Antarctic. PROVENANCE:
Presented to J.D. Hooker by Baron Sir Ferdinand Heinrich von Mueller KCMG (1825-1896), the German-Australian physician, geographer, and botanist. Mueller was appointed government botanist 🍒for the then colony of Victoria by Governor Charles La Trobe in 1853, later becoming director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne: Mueller's card and printed blue label of Phytologic Museum of Melbourne (also bearing J.D. Hooker's signature) pasted onto lower right-hand side of printed area.
