Compare a similar jade luohan figure holding an alms bowl attributed to Qing dynasty, 18th/19th century, from the Tuyet Nguyet Collection, included in the exhibition Virtuous Treasures: Chinese Jades for the Scholar's Table, University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 2008, cat. no. 118, subsequently sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 31st May 2018, lot 579; another seated figure clutching a strand of prayer beads and a lingzhi staff, sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 27th April 1999, lot 39ꦜ3, and again in the same rooms, 9th October 2017, lot 1601; and a slightly earlier example, depicted holding a brocade ball and together with a small lion, attributed to the seventeenth century, from the collection of💎 Gerald Godfrey, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30th October 1995, lot 876.
