A. W. Tillinghast (1876–1942), a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, designed, or contributed to, some 265 golf courses, including Baltusrol, Winged Foot, Bethpage Black, and many other of the most famous courses in the United States. His⭕ guiding principle was the incorporation of natural surroundings. As he writes in the present pamphlet, "One vital feature was neglected by most of the old-time builders of American links. They persistently ignored Nature, and when introducing artifici🌊al creations little effort was exerted towards making them appear natural. … It costs no more to follow Nature than to ignore her."
