The Sicilian family of Valseca originated in Catalonia, Spain, and arrived on the island during the time of the Emperor Charlemagne. The first recorded Valseca to settle in Sicily was Perotto Valseca in the 16th century. He held various posi♈tions of administration and royal government, including that of first judge of the royal court. His son, Lodovico, held the office of lieutenant-governor of the province of Ragusa on several occasions. They were subsequently Baron of Caddimeli.
Don Andrea Valseca, Lord of Caddimeli married Donna Cat✨erina circa 1595. He acquired from Luigi Enriquez da Cabrera, Duke of Medina of Riosecco, Count di Modica etc., the old lordshi🍎p of Caddimeli in the region of Ragusa (29 October 1596). Their son Bernardo, married on 16 June 1617, in Modica (south of Ragusa) Agata Celeste (Celesti) lady of Pediligeri and Statella.
The ancient Sicilian Celeste family were sprওead across different towns in Sicily, such as Noto, Modica, Catania and Palermo. Family tradition has it that they came from France at the time of Frederick II of Aragon. Positions held by the family include Regent of the Supreme Council of Italy in 1597, and first Marquis of Sainta-Croce in 1600. Pietro Celeste was knight of Saint Giacomo della Spada, deputy of the kingdom, curator of royal property, praetor of the city of Palermo, and in 1611 minister-governor of the noble company of Charity. He was the first baron of Alia in 1615. Giambattista, Marquis Celeste, was governor of the Bianchi company in 1637, 🍌and of the Montedi Pietà of Palermo 1643.
