Giovanni Cornaro, Venetian nobleman and statesman, served as Doge of Venice from May 22, 1709 until his death in 1722. He led Venice in the last war against the Ottoman Empire, culminating in the significance of the Treaty of Passarowitz in 1718 whereby Venice lost the Morea and her last possessions 𒉰in the Aegean Sea.
