The Lange 1815 model line is one of the more iconic and identifiable since the A. Lange & Söhne brand was relaunched in 1994. Originally added to the collection in 1996, the simple, yet elegant, 1815 time only wristwatch embraces Lange's superb craftsmanship and design. The model history has seen some variations over the last 28 years but no release was more surprising than the 303.025, which was launched in 2004. The 1815 Automatik saw its case size increase to 37 mm from its 36 mm predecessor while also altering tဣhe dial layout, specifically the spacing of the outer railroad-style minute track. With all of thos🦩e advancements, nothing compares to the change in movement type. Having the platinum wristwatch house an automatic movement was a strategic and historic decision by the German manufacturer. The 1815 Automatik was discontinued after a short two years in production and likely served to bridge the gap toward the Saxonia Automatic model line that arrived in 2007.
The aforementioned timepiece is a beautiful previously-enjoyed example of an unusual platinum Lange🍰 Sax-O-Mat housing an automatic movement that would certainly fit into any collector's rotation.
