[APOLLO 9]

FLOWN US FLAG SIGNED and INSCRIBED by CDR JIM MCDIVITT framed together with photograph SIGNED by CDR Jim McDivitt. Flag measures 4 x 6 inches, inscribed “Flown on Apollo 9 / James A. McDivitt.” Photograph measures 20 x 16 inches, framed together under glass with embroidered NASA Meatball patch and Apollo 9🎐 embroidered mission patch. Total presentation measures 24 x 26 inches.  


Accompanied by a typed letter signed by James A. McDivitt that states: “I certify that this 6 x 4 flag was flown onboard Apollo 9, March 3-13, 1969, and is from my personal collection. I have written ‘Flown on Apollo 9’ on the white stripe directly below the blue canton, and signed my name on the next white stripe. JIM MCDIVITT”

The Apollo 9 Mission qualified the Lunar Module for crewed lunar flight, demonstrating that it could perform the maneuvers necessary for a successful lunar landing, including docking with the Command Service Module. Having worked together since January 1966, McDivitt's crew remains among the best-trained in NASA's history, and have the 🦩distinction of first crew to fly the Lunar Module.  

In addition to the FLOWN US flag signed by CDR McDivitt, the photograph depicts the first crewed LM to fly, Spider, about to dock with CSM Gumdrop.
