THE BRIDGE TO THE MOON…

The Gemini program was designed as a bridge between the Mercury and Apollo programs, primarily to test equipment and mission procedures in Earth orbit and to train astronauts and ground crews for future Apollo missions. Gemini X was the eighth crewed Earth-orbiting spacecraft of the Gemini series, carrying astronauts John Young and Michael Collins. While ultimately successful, the crew faced several issues during their mission: early navigation problems using the sextant, a slight out-of-plane error during a burn that required extra fuel, and challenges with the Agena target vehicle's attitude control. The mis🅠sion also highlighted the difficulties of extravehicular activity (EVA), with astronauts experiencing elevated heart rates during spacewalks.
