Distilled in 1946, bottle #2611, includes key and scroll of authenticity, original wooden case is chipped on the side with keyhole Being one of the distillery's oldest at the time of release, The Macallan 1946 vintage is a perfect snapshot of post-war distillation as coal was scarce in the Scottish Highlands. Northern distilleries used locꦗally cut peat for commercial fuel as well as for domestic fires. This whisky has a distinctive peat note, which is extremely rare in any of The Macallan's bottlings, particularly today.
