Medu Art Ensemble and the Anti-Apartheid Poster is the first museum exhibition in North America to profile the Medu Art Ensemble – an arts coalition created in the late 1970s to protest South Africa’s apartheid policy.   In the 1920s, French compatriots began to rely on magazines to peruse the latest fashion trends. Magazines like Gazette du bon ton, art, modes et frivolités, Modes et manières d’aujourd’hui, Costumes parisiens, and Journal des dames et des modes offered a wealth of information regarding styles, as well as rich illuminations of the garments. Frequently, these colorful illustrations sought inspiration from the East, as they stylistically resembled Japanese woodblock prints.
