  • Charles Lindbergh’s Rand McNally Map of Texas. Chicago, circa 1920–1930. Estimate $5,000–7,000.
    This map of Texas was used in flight by iconic pilot Charles Lindbergh. He signed the map ”Lindbergh” on the lower right and a partial course plotting is visible in pencil.

  • Jean-Baptiste Bénard de La Harpe. Carte nouvelle de la partie de l'ouest de la Louisianne. Paris, circa 1722–1725. Estimate $120,000–180,000.
    This highly important and remarkably detailed manuscript map of Texas, Louisiana and large portions of the Old Southwest, was created based on now-lost original notes and sketches by Bénard de la Harpe. Produced by the French Hydrographic Office in Paris, this beautiful and important map is much more accurate than most printed French maps of the period.

  • Albrecht Dürer and Johann Stabius, Map of the World as a Sphere. Vienna, 1781, from woodblocks cut in 1515. Estimate $120,000–180,000.
    This map was produced as a collaboration between Dürer and Johann Stabius, an astronomer to the court of Maximilian I. No 16th-century example of the map survives, but the original woodblocks were rediscovered shortly before the present impressions were pulled in 1781. This edition, published by Joseph Elden von Kurzbeck under the supervision of the scholar Johann Adam von Bartsch, is itself now very rare. The original woodblocks are now part of the collection of the , Vienna.

  • Martin Waldseemüller, Orbis typus universalis iuxta hydrographorum traditionem. Strassburg, 1513. Estimate $40,000–60,000.
    Known as the "Admiral's map" influential cartographer Martin Waldseemüller's monumental modern map of the world from the celebrated 1513 Strassburg edition of Ptolemy's Geography, so named because the delineation of the New World was supposedly based on the observations of Christopher Columbus.

  • Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, History of the Expedition under the Command of Captains Lewis and Clark, to the Sources of the Missouri, thence across the Rocky Mountains and down the River Columbia to the Pacific Ocean. Maxwell at New York for Bradford and Inskeep and Abm. H. Inskeep, New York, Philadelphia, 1814. Estimate $100,000–150,000.
    This large map depicts the historic 8,000-mile trek undertaken by the Lewis and Clark expedition from the Mississippi to the Pacific Ocean. A first edition of the "definitive account of the most important exploration of the North American continent," the map survives in an extraordinary copy, uncut and presented in the original printed boards.

  • J. & W. Cary, New Terrestrial Globe Exhibiting the Tracks and Discoveries made by Captain Cook; also those by Captain Vancouver on the North-West Coast of America, and M. de la Perouse on the Coast of Tartary. London, 1816, with additions to 1833. Estimate $20,000–25,000.
    This superb floor globe depicts the routes of landmark explorations including those of Captain James Cook, Captain George Vancouver and Jean François de Galaup, comte de Lapérouse. John Cary was one of the foremost cartographers and publishers of early 19th-century and the present work is the largest globe offered by his firm. The globe depicts Ross's exploration of the Northwest Passage and labels California as "New Albion" while recording the tracks of the major North Pacific explorers.

  • Peter Apian, Tipus orbis universalis iuxta Ptolemei cosmographi traditionem et Americi Vespucii aliorque lustrationes a Petro Apiano Leysnico elucbrat An. Do. MDXX. Vienna, 1520. Estimate $30,000–50,000.
    The earliest obtainable authentic map with the place name America, Apian's striking truncated cordiform projection of the world is derived from German cartographer Martin Waldseemüller's monumental 1507 wall map. The map first appeared in the 1520 Viennese edition of 3rd-century Latin grammatician’s Gaius Julius Solinus’s compendium Polyhistor.
