Sotheby's will be auctioning Francis Meyer's collection of Art N𒊎ouveau glassware on 8 and 9 October. For some fifteen years, the Swiss collector has painstakingly and discreetly assembled over 200 pieces by Émile Gallé and Daum, including some of the most important works of these leading artists. The collection provides an insight into the artistic, technical and symbolic paths followed by Émile Gallé and the Daum brothers, whose creations stand at the very pinnacle of the art of glass.
Over a period of just fifteen years, Francis Meyer sear꧋ched for art objects scattered across𓃲 time and space, visited dealers, collectors and auction rooms to select the best ones, and then brought them together as a family in an aesthetically pleasing setting overlooking nature.
