註:抗戰烽火南延,國民政府以重慶為陪都,各有關單位隨之內
遷。謝稚柳在渝州期間,曾任職監察院,時于右任掌院,他出任
于氏秘書。一九四二年中,得張大千之邀赴敦煌,本幅寫於是年
春,即西行前所作。所贈者即于右任長子于望德。于望德曾任教
中央大學,復任行政院參事,父子俱與謝氏具仝事之誼。畫中上
款兼及于望德伉儷,又取〈藕塘圖〉為題,喻「嘉藕」之意,似屬致
賀嘉禮之物。
謝稚柳早歲嗜陳洪綬書畫,三十年代已撰專文論述,並宗其法,
無論畫風書體,俱逼肖,其中又以花卉題材直攝其神髓。早於
一九三七年,他以老蓮〈青蓮法界圖〉為本,祗是以絹材代紙本,
水墨換作淡設色,惟筆墨重現效果逼真,盡其韻致。本幅寫於四
年後,眼界、技法益臻神妙。構圖雄奇,紅白荷花穿插於橫延奇
石間,石姿奇古樸拙,復有綠葉招展掩映,在古樸氣息籠罩下卻
不失清逸之趣。荷花覆朱鋪粉,殷紅素白反襯,似並頭為
伴,色彩明艷而不穠俗,以喻佳侶,受贈者當能領會。
選用紙材受制於戰時物質條件,但畫家以用色細致講究而
掩材料之瑕。至於橫批尺幅之鉅,更非他慣常選取作畫之
樣式,構圖按此衍生發展,足証別出心裁,非因循襲取往
常易見者!另畫上鈐「稚白衣」白文方印,「穉」與「稚」同
義,與其採用另方「穉白衣」印同,俱鮮見於畫跡上。他的
〈青蓮法界圖〉即鈐「穉白衣」,亦為法老蓮本,兩幅前後如
一,可堪一記。

于右任乃黨國元老,政界藝壇俱負碩望。長子望德早歲負笈英倫,歸國從事教育,後投外交界,先後駐節南美多國。他們不以收藏聞名,惟數十載人脈關係積累,得書畫文化界名宿送贈作品誌念。本輯即為于氏父子舊藏。包括右老身處陪都的柏台仝人汪東、謝稚柳;渡海遷台時期的藝友如黃君璧、彭醇士、溥儒、陳含光等。其中如謝稚柳〈藕塘圖〉誌賀于望德嘉禮;彭醇士〈秋林策杖〉贈別望德奉使南美;四家書畫合贈壽于右老七三誕辰,在在皆証與于氏父子之交情。其中汪東以詞享譽,作畫罕見;彭醇士書畫,多贈摯友,流通甚少;而黃君璧於作品上題及畫論者極稀,兼屬青綠設色,今俱彙集於本輯,非與受贈者具此淵源,焉能致此!
