寫不浸墨之紙。此種紙專為翰林所製，工書善畫者不用。沛之仁
先生不知白石此意，因為畫之。沛公自有論定，齊璜記。

註：觀本幅書體風格，可知作於民國初年，時白石初客故都，因
其草根出身，頗受遜清遺老、舊派文人冷眼；而此時畫風近八
大，趨向冷逸，識者逾寡。故鬻畫艱難，生計困頓。本幅所具長
跋，譏諷翰林書法受制於館閣體，雖規整嚴飭，卻失諸雷同而乏
個性，兼非特製紙張不能暢然下筆。白石雖為布衣，卻無由紙材
所限，本幅即非特用「不浸墨」之紙，筆力依然勁拔樸拙。所繪傍
水而生的蒲葦，寥寥數筆，卻細靱含勁，可見他筆下操控自如，
不拘物料。題句似請沛公論定，實含譏諷當時舊京文藝界守舊之
意。
