the deep rounded sides rising from a short straight foot to an everted rim, finely incised and enameled around the exterior with eight cranes in flight amidst ruyi-head cloud scrolls and above rockwork and crested waves encircling the base, the details highlighted in bright green enamels reserved on a rich yellow ground extending to the interior, six character marks in underglaze blue, wood stands (4)

Condition

One bowl with a 3/4 in. (1.9 cm) hairline crack to the rim, the other with a 1 1/4 in. (3.1 cm) wide potting flaw to the rim.

A pair of bowls of this type, from the Hall Family Collection, was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 2nd May 2000, lot 546; and another, published in Sotheby's Hong Kong Twenty Years 1973-1993, Hong Kong, 1993, pl. 370, was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 15th May 1990, lot 299, and again at Christie's Hong Kong, 29th May 2007, lot 1364.
