空谷佳人翠袖寒，桃花顏色上欄干；
伊人豈在天之末，斜日蒼茫獨自看。
壬申冬宵同人集於新世界旅邸，予作此圖，笙伯先生為余補小紅
桃花二叢，雄健中帶有婀娜，此光暪中正有無限倚思也。賀天健
拜題。
鈐印：「賀天健」。

註：賀天寫畫構圖能力極強，不蹈前人覆轍，佈局變化莫測，機
杼自出。本幅入畫之佳人，非春遊賞玩，反伏倚孤懸欄外之峭
石，四無依傍，下臨空谷，遠眺蒼茫，於「天之末」處見「遺世獨
立」之情狀。相類構圖，偶見他用於高士攀絕頂觀雲或棲高枝論
古，若換為仕女，氣氛情境䢛異，構思大膽，極險譎奇詭之能事。
崖畔上下桃花兩簇，由商笙伯添綴。賀氏與他往還頗切，以年
齡、輩份關係，尊曰「老前輩」，且同活躍於滬上藝壇。畫上題跋
謂寫於「新世界旅邸」，即當年上海新世界飯店，亦書畫展覽頻常
舉行的場地之一。又謂「仝人」，或指在是年十二月正式成立之中
國畫會。從中可見兩人交誼及當年海上藝壇之動態。
