款識：
伏廬世丈屬畫，自以為不得意，方將匿而不報，乃又強索以合湯姚之作付裝池，則益相形見拙矣，無奈何，奈何！衡恪。

鈐印：「陳衡之印」。

上款：「伏廬」即陳漢第（1874-1949），字仲恕，杭州人。入民國後，
歷任印鑄局局長、總統府秘書、國務院秘書長等職，晚年寓居滬上。
他工書擅畫，尤精寫竹，法度森嚴。又嗜收藏，廣涉金石書畫，以藏
印最為著名，有〈伏廬藏印〉付梓傳世。

註：陳漢第出身世家，既具科名，又負清望，故在舊京文藝界輩份甚
高。陳師曾與他年齡相距兩載，卻尊曰「世丈」，蓋溯上輩交誼。他們
亦為藝壇仝道，乃中國畫學研究會成員。本幅以琅玕為主，壽石紅花
伴襯，清逸之氣自生，瘦竹細而含勁，枝葉濃淡相配，其矗立向上之
姿，正是「清如夷齊」，寄寓君子堅貞勵節之志。伏廬署簽曰「頗有石
濤筆意」，而師曾參合梅道人以至鄭板橋寫竹法，筆下變化，自生己
貌，益添文人意趣。

畫中題跋又謂「強索以合湯姚之作」，即指湯定之、姚茫父，皆屬京華
藝壇名宿、畫家之好友也。
