Maker's mark IG in a rectangle. Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold. Enamel in good condition, minor areas of loss to the top of the lid. Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use. In good condition. Gross weight approximately 429 grams.

The box draws inspiration from a double portrait snuff box of striped gold and mother-of-pearl from the Rothschild Collection, formerly at Waddesdon Manor.

The box was created by Jean-Marie Tiron (known as Tiron de Nanteui🍸l) in Paris, ♛1765 - 1766.
