上款：「英輝」即蔡興（1869-?），字祥泰，廣東香山人。少赴澳洲謀生。一九〇〇年，先施百貨公司在港開設，蔡興蔡昌兄弟即為創辦人之一。後二人又創立大新公司，並於廣州、上海等地設立公司，復投資於製造、航運業，乃中國近代具影響力之實業家。蔡氏兄弟早歲支持孫中山先生之革命事業，曾捐與巨款，尤於二次革命時，出大力支援。他無意官場，推掉出任政府高職之邀，僅為服務鄉梓，而擔任中山縣顧問等職務，在家鄉辦有多項慈善事業。

註：本幅未署年款，惟以蔡興之生平經歷，並參以梁氏簽款具表字「卓如」，兼書體風格類近早年，可推知或屬辛亥革命事竟前所寫。而任公早年之書法可見於他為同門陳國鏞所寫之橫幅。蔡氏與任公過從關係未詳，但具同郷之誼，改良與革命或路向歧異，目標卻同為扶社稷於既傾，或因此以「同志」相稱。蔡興歿後，本幅傳其哲嗣蔡天福。七十年代移居海外前，重付裝池，今仍保持當年之裱工。百載人事滄桑，惟此具紀念意義之物，妥善保留，一直未有外流。
