The bottom is drilled and there are two plugs in the sides above the handles, where loops to hold candles may have been. There are also scallered small patches, a casting flaw to the interior rim of the foot and four small holes, some partially filled. There is age consistent wear to the surface.

Lady Golden Flower is the Cantonese goddess of childbirth and protector of children. Prior to the revolution, there were numerous temples dedicated to her throughout Guangdong province. According to the inscription, the censer was donated by devotee Zou Hanling and his family.
