each of rectangular form inset with a double gourd-form panel applied with carved jade, hardstone, and cloisonné forming an arrangement of 'precious things' within a conforming carved cinnabar lacquer border, the wide ground carved in deep relief with the Eight Immortals each holding an identifying attribute amidst towering trees and lush foliage, the reverse in black lacquer with further applied decoration of bamboo and narcissus and bone inscriptions; the stands with latticework frames containing rectangular panels ornamented with famille-rose porcelain birds and flowers, the reverse plain, standing openwork spandrels to either side of the base posts, all supported on broad rounded and scrolled feet (4)

Condition
There are minor losses to the applied embellishments. There are filled and consolidated repairs to the lacquer. There is consolidation, wear to the lower panels with porcelain appliques. The hardwood stands with extensive patch and filled repairs.

The back of each inscribed with one line of a couplet attributed to Zheng Banqiao (1693–1765), the first reading ji de wei guan zhong zhu zhi (remember to plant bamboo for the officials), followed by the name Banqiao and one seal reading Zheng Xie zhiyin, the second reading zhu shi xiao shu you meng lan (Sparse and graceful the bamboo and stones dream of orchids) followed by the name Banqiao Zheng Xie.
