Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of its time keeping and therefore a service should be carried out in the near future at the buyer's expense. The movement is running at the time of cataloguing, however it may require a service soon. Hands and indexes are no longer glowing. There are some marks to the hands but overall the dial is in good condition. The case with scuffs and small indentations, bezel is jammed and will not rotate. Bracelet worn and heavily scuffed. This model appears with the ‘Explorer’ type dial which is extremely rare and was only used during the first four or five years of Submariner production. There is also the introduction of T marking to the dial. Rolex have never confirmed the reason for this but studies of the radiation from these and earlier watches suggest that it indicates the transition in the use of Radium to Tritium as there are lower readings in the underlined models. This is also the case on early Cosmograph, Explorer and GMT models from the years 1962 to 1964. On this model, the double T<25 mark on either side of the Swiss signature is unique and specific to earliest models. On this model the T was centralized; later models shift the Swiss to the left with just one T<25, the underline was a registration mark that ensured the T<25 symbols were accurately placed when added to the dial.
