The highly translucent multi-coloured jadeite suffused with patches of light to deep green colour, embellished by splashes of amber yellow, carved with a Guan Yin resting on a lotus flower and a boy to the left, to a background carved with clouds and trees.

Colour and Clarity: According to the Jadeite Jade Testing Certificate, the mutli-colour jadeite "Guanyin" is natural, Type A Jadeite Jade. Please refer to the certificate for details. In our opinion, the multi-colour jadeite "Guanyin" has superb translucency that half of it is almost semi-transparent, of various hues, from celadon tone suffused with amber yellow and light to deep green patches, to medium and medium deep intense purple colour. Upon strong illumination, there are some white spot inclusions and clouds, not noticeable in normal lighting. Accompanied by wooden stand, rock crystal stand and fitted box. Condition: The jadeite carving weighs approximately 1.25kg. Texture and translucency of this carving is exceptional, extremely rare quality found in carved jadeite ornament. This Guanyin carving has nice proportions and serene face, with detailed craftsmanship, overall in excellent condition. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that jadeite and rubies of Burmese origin and articles of jewellery containing jadeite or rubies of Burmese origin all less than 100 years old may not be imported into the US. 童子拜觀音

觀世音🧔，簡稱「觀音」，是彿教世界中的大能菩薩，考其梵文意釋，是「觀其聲音，皆得解脫」。觀音菩薩既是大慈大悲，救苦救難，自能使眾生逢凶化吉，遇難逞祥，送子送福。相傳清朝咸豐三年，石邑大地連降暴雨，眼看就要淹沒整個石邑城，觀音菩薩拿起掃拂，在空中連搖三下，頃刻，雨漸漸地停了，江水也慢慢地退了。正在此時，觀音看見水面上飄來一小男孩，就騰駕蓮座下江救起他。為報答觀音的救命之恩，該男孩每年的五月初三日都到玉觀音旁邊的石山上焚香誦經，十幾年來風雨不改。及後他高中進士進京為官，就請了一位京城聞名的雕匠回鄉，雕造一樽自己的石像立在玉觀音旁邊，以銘不忘觀音的救命之恩。

今季蘇富比呈獻的這一尊觀音像尤其特別，不但雕工精緻，選料更是同類作品無可比擬。觀音像以通體瑩潤的三彩翡翠雕琢而成，整座擺件晶瑩剔透，細緻無比，座像厚達64.80毫米仍然通透照人，難得一見；而且淨重達1.25公斤的雕像幾乎毫無瑕疵，可見原石材不但碩大，雕鑿過程必然耗費心力。三彩巧色的分佈更是一絶，其中艷麗的紫翡翠既能展現觀音菩薩的尊貴莊嚴，亦不失其慈悲溫柔的特質，配以柔和深綠的園林背景，以及猶如日光初照樹梢碩的鵝黃色，整個構圖不但色彩斑斕，卻又透出濃濃清逸恬靜的意境。幾近玻璃質的翡翠，柔和的光線映照下，令整個擺件更覺通靈。工匠細緻的刻劃下，觀音菩薩法相端莊祥和，衣紋婉約飄逸，而在旁誦拜的童子亦栩栩如生，活現了觀音寬容平和，慈悲眾生的大度。
