上款：「致和」即張允中（1881-1960後），浙江山陰人，齋號「補蘿庵」，曾任北平市政府秘書長。他善書，嗜收藏，精鑒定，所集明清書畫甚豐。

註：光緒三十年（1904）「甲辰恩科」，乃有清一代最末一科，亦為科舉制度之終結。劉春霖、朱汝珍、商衍鎏位列三甲， 張啓後以「傳臚」居其後，合稱「四鼎甲」。

殿試高踞前列，身份清貴，兼科舉告終，後無來者，故四家合成之作品，極為時人追慕，輒以重值求之，懸之府第，藉增聲價，又或餽贈友朋，以示品味之高。即使清祚不續，民國官商仕紳仍好之，如本幅即應國民政府官吏張允中所求而製。
