註：八十年代，吳冠中作品尚未普及，現藏者獨具慧眼，甚欣賞其創意及表現手法，遂精心策劃，為其製作專集，在香港出版，這亦是畫家首本在海外面世之大型作品集，匯集重要作品極夥，對全面推介其藝術，貢獻尤鉅。因此關係，亦得畫家寫予作品頗多，不少從未公開，本幅即其一。

畫中老松屹立巖頂，枝幹戟張，盤旋扭曲，交纏互搭，狀若虬龍飛舞，橫跨畫面，重山層叠，佈列其後，高低參差如犬牙交錯，佈局頗類畫家筆下常見之「松魂」系列， 惟描劃較具體，日後發展則漸趨抽象，從中可窺見其表現手法之演變過程。
