註：白石晚歲作畫，雖體力所限，畫面控制以至狀物之精準，未及盛年，然此時所寫皆流自數十年筆底實踐與內心情感，捨形取神，無拘無束，已臻自由新境界。本幅採洋紅寫荷，花瓣無鉤筋，葉用墨連潑帶寫；莖則由濕而枯筆筆寫出，絕妙處在荷花與右方嬾葉間，有蓮蓬一枚，只隱約其形，抽象其美，確有表現主義之妙處所在。署款「白石」二字，行筆略見顫抖，結合畫風，似屬畫家一九五五、五六年間所出。
