註：抗戰峰火，趙少昂避兵遷徙，輾轉入蜀，執教於中央大學及國立藝術專科學校，期間多有遊歷，先後於桂林、貴陽、重慶等地舉辦個展，創作不輟，精品尤多。芭蕉乃其早年筆下好寫之題材，構圖多為蕉樹矗立，巨葉覆頂，花菓繫結，小蟲點綴於上，畫面以淡彩為主，多遍渲染，一片濕氣氤氳，故題曰「曉來微雨蕉花紫」，以見自然真趣。

本幅同以芭蕉樹為題，處理手法迥然不同，色調趨沉黯，筆觸皴擦較多，紙材物料較粗糙，故畫面遂生粗放之視覺效果。粗幹頂天立地，綠葉伸長於頂，青嫩小樹伴側，呈老幼相依之態。一九四四年，戰事呈膠著狀態，軍民皆疲，士氣未見振奮，畫家開歲寫此，以兩樹倚持，葉心百卷，如老幼攜手，眾心連結，同抗東風，並題曰「努力抗東風」，實憑畫寄意，藉此激勵民心，毋棄毋餒，共禦外侮。
