「濁世清流」晚清名臣書法小輯 （編號1350-1356）

光緒年初，洪楊之亂既平，洋務籌辦，頗具聲色，局面稍現中興之象。大政雖掌於慈禧，惟滿漢之歧，新舊之爭，兼外夷環伺，朝局仍暗流隱伏。時科舉出身之言官，以翰林清貴，抱匡扶之心，立濟世之志，逞專摺奏事之職能，議論時政，不憚權貴，上本彈劾，雖非朋黨結納，但同聲相應，互相援引，頗取信於慈禧，獲委重任，匯為「清流」，遂成左右政局之力量。李鴻藻、翁同龢以帝師之尊，居廟堂高位，被奉為「清流」領袖，而其音諧「青牛」，李蘭孫被戲稱「牛首」；張之洞、張佩綸為「牛角」；陳寶琛為「牛尾」。惜中🐬法啟釁，馬尾一役，書生督師，運籌無方，各軍俱潰，遂失寵於上，「清流」之勢不復矣！維新變法期間，翁叔平遭譴回籍，翁門諸子亦失庇蔭。

本輯所集，範圍取「清流」之廣義，故李慈銘及「翁門六子」之文廷式、張謇皆列其中。翁同龢書法名重於時，餘者正途出身，筆下功夫自當造詣不凡。世事人事，政局譎變，宦途起伏，千秋功罪，誰與評說，惟墨蹟傳世，以藝論之，足堪觀矣！

註：李鴻藻，河北保定人。咸豐二年進士，深獲慈禧信任，歷任要職，先後掌兵部、吏部、禮部，入值🔴軍機，後任協辦大學士，被奉為「清流」領袖。
