註：鄭午昌擅畫柳，有「鄭楊柳」之美名，實掩其筆下處理不同花卉題材之勝，如松、如梅，甚或清蔬，除在畫中作配襯外，獨自成篇，亦甚可觀。其中如寫梅花，則萬玉綻放，五色紛陳，燦爛多姿，春色盎然。惟其構圖佈局變化多端，不拘一格，化繁為簡，從絢爛變寡淡，本冊即屬顯証。冊中八開，七開各以折枝梅一株入畫，另一則密集成叢。他以山水造境奇絕，獨步民初畫壇，移此手法寫梅，盤屈直立、橫出斜列、曲首迴身，造型各異，如師古法，復參自然，造化之妙，意象之奇，融於筆下，雖以素墨出之，或濃或淡，幽微中自生變化，物態物情於此盡矣！

每開錄七言詩句為題，皆出自宋、元名家咏梅詩，如東坡、放翁等，且每開用印，無一重複，雖曰案頭小品，寫時順意隨心，惟細微處，卻見經營用心，留供自賞。
