上款：「笑棠」即嚴笑棠（b.1902），福建漳州人。畢業於福建法專，曾服務於新聞及教育界，後渡海赴台。他好詩文，擅書法，與在台之文化藝術界人士，以至政界大老，甚有交往。尤好收藏舊王孫作品，獲寫贈作品甚多，其中以工楷書〈金剛經〉壽其母七十大慶最為著名。
