張氏，江蘇無錫人，早年曾服務於南洋兄弟烟草公司廣告部，後轉為創作漫畫，先後創辦多份漫畫刊物，其諷刺時弊之作極受歡迎。四九年後，歷任中央美術學院及中央工藝美術學院教授。
