拍品資料及來源

Such cups embellished with Imperial monograms or with a 'monogrammed name' were usually presented to members of the Russian Imperial family as New Year or Christmas presents or to visiting dignitaries as symbols of the Empress's favor. The mark of circle with a dot is generally found on works of the 1760s; this cup was undoubtedly made as a diplomatic gift for a yet to be identified prince. For comparison and for the marks, see Shedevry russkogo farfora XVIII veka iz sobraniia galerei "Popov i Ko.," Moscow, 2009, pp. 164-198.
