the oklad enameled in bright colors with floral and geometric ornament, the upper register with 17th-century style heraldic eagles at right and left and the lower corners with the prayer (Cyrillic) Save and Preserve, with seed-pearl embroidered robes, struck with Cyrillic initials VS, probably for Vasily Sikachev, Moscow, 1908-1917
Condition
excellent and vibrant color; some very small wear to the enamel of the oklad and to the surface of the icon; the original velvet backing replaced with chamois
