These jeweled cufflinks are a unique souvenir from a relatively happy period in Grand Duke Andrei Vladimirovich's turbulent life. The dissolution of the Imperial court and its etiquette allowed him in 1921 to marry legendary ballerina Mathilda Kschessinska. The two lived rather lavishly from the sale of family property; these cufflinks were undoubtedly acquired while visiting Warsaw, her birthplace.
