Presumably part of a group of silver ordered for the coronation of George III, to which Simon Le Sage, as subordinate Royal goldsmith, contributed, see Sotheby's, New York, March 20, 1970, lot 87 for a 20 inch salver with the Royal arms by him, also 1759. An inkstand by Le Sage with Royal arms, 1759 was sold Sotheby's, New York, April 2009, lot 268.
