Condition

overall very condition; excellent detail and the trompe l'oeil without bends or splits, some traces of gilding still apparent on "basketry," some small surface scratches consistent with age and use, one of the feet slightly bent so that basket rocks slightly. This can be easily adjusted.

拍品資料及來源

Baskets such as this were prized in both Russia and abroad for the silversmith's ability to render diverse materials with great accuracy. The firm of Sazikov was known for producing many such works and Gerasim Loskutov was for some time an employee of this firm. For a similar work by the same silversmith formerly in the Safra Collection, see Sotheby's New York, 18 November 2011, lot 77.
