Condition
Movement running at time of cataloging, however not tested for the accuracy of time and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Case worn and with loss of plating overall. Dial in good condition with scratches overall, wear from 11 to 3 o'clock from the hands. Movement in good condition with some light scratches and pitting.

The present lot bears the signature of Friedrich Wilhelm Roetig (1782-1861) who was not only a watchmaker but also an optician. He was known for making clocks and watches with special types of escapements, of which the present watch certainly has. Moise Pouzait developed the escapement with his name in 1786 as a response to the Chinese market looking for watches with dead-beat seconds.
