註：本幅寫於一九四一年，正值于非闇工筆花鳥創作成熟期。畫中下方置湖石，脩竹挺立傍伴，文禽紅背白腹藍頷，獨佔高枝，身後尚有蜜蜂成雙飛舞，拍翅似嗡嗡作響。竹石蟲雀，合置一畫，佈局巧妙，生趣盎然，雖曰「戲成此圖」，實經營於不著痕迹中。

寫竹直取道君皇帝法，畫石設色亦師宋人，細緻處，如蝴蝶雙翅以朱色敷底，復上青藍，前翅厚敷，後翅薄罩，再細筆勾描金線，極具裝飾性，一派貴氣從中可見。

畫上雙題，一在一九四一年秋，以徽宗瘦金體書之，結體略偏扁圓，點劃間架，頓錯起伏，搖曳生姿，此多寫於三十年代中至晚期，正是畫家潛心研習之始；一在翌年冬，書風已生變，字體趨窄長，有玉樹臨風之態，是時他已消融前人法，自生己貌。他以先後瘦金書體題於一畫，無乃自逞得意之舉。
